[17:03] Vedis Seid: Well, Welcome everyone, My name is Vedis and I am one of the friendly Moderators here in Legacies. *waves*

[17:04] Vedis Seid: I like to start my class with a bit of cut 'n paste, so open your chat and take a moment to read our Philosophy. *chuckles*

[17:05] Vedis Seid: We created this place to have a space where we (adults) could escape the ridiculousness of the internet and stresses of “players”. We created Legacies Beyond Darkness to come relax and enjoy each other, leaving RL behind, letting our minds open and walls disappear. To let our imaginations explode and live our dreams and fantasies free of judgment. We are based on a historical face and ambiance. A full immersion extremely dark, extremely mature roll play sim that exists in character 24/7. A world, a place we call home, a way of life. All life is welcome here, every creature is welcome here. There is no safe zone here, there is no limitations aside from TOS and Linden Law. Everything and Anything can, will and does happen here.

[17:09] Vedis Seid: For instance, what you would do is RP a trance, or looking off into the distance, whatever you like really, then put (OOB) on the end.

[17:11] Vedis Seid: OOB is for short breaks, no longer than 10 minutes.

[17:12] Vedis Seid: If you need to go longer you can 'sleep' which is simply removing yoruself from the RP and finding a place to sleep.
[17:12] Vedis Seid: just keep in mind, if you have an active meter, you are Live. RP can affect you weather you are at the keyboard or not.

[17:13] Vedis Seid: If you want to affect somone who is OOB or sleeping, you will need to call for a Storyteller.
[17:13] Vedis Seid: So they can document was was done for the OOB person.
[17:14] Rottengirl Elswit: so does that mean that someone can actually do something to you while you're temporarily akf?
[17:14] Vedis Seid: Yup!
[17:14] Vedis Seid: Sure can.

[17:15] Rottengirl Elswit: wouldn't that be a fprm of powergaming since the person isn't there to respond? i'm not trying to be rude or arguementative i just want to make sure i understand that part.
[17:15] Vedis Seid: Speaking of OOC, we don't allow OOC drama, if you have a problem with someone, and can't work it out between yourselves, call a mod, we will take care of the situation. Anyone caught instigating OOC Drama will be removed from play.

[17:16] Vedis Seid: *nods* That is what the Storyteller is for. To make sure that everything stays fair. And everything has to be Rolled for, so there is always a chance of failure.

[17:16] Vedis Seid: One gentleman wanted to take a sleeping person and throw them out the window.
[17:16] Vedis Seid: When he rolled for it, he got a critical failure.

[17:16] Vedis Seid: so not only did he NOT affect the player, he nearly broke his spine.
[17:17] Rottengirl Elswit: and if he didn't roll a fail?
[17:17] Vedis Seid: But if he had rolled a success...he would have thrown this person out the window. and that person would return to quite a bit of a headache.

[17:18] Vedis Seid: Not many people mess with OOB folks simply because the STs will watch out for the individual to make sure they are not killed etc.
[17:19] Vedis Seid: Something else you can pull from the statement above is that we are historical.
[17:19] Vedis Seid: Guns must be approved before you use them.
[17:19] Vedis Seid: Clothing must be historically accurate, or there must be and OOC reason they are not.
[17:20] Vedis Seid: For instance, if I am returning from hell, I wear MUCH less clothing than would be appropreate for the timeperiod, but that is the only time I wear such clothing.
[17:21] Ziggy London: Ahh thats a factor I was interested in. Im playing a Time Lord, and although I wont be bringing in a phaser rifle, I was thinking of bring in some form of tesla weapon, with a blah blah patent explanation, fitting to the paradigm. Nothing to slaughter with, simply an item to represent the ability for technology of the character type
[17:21] Vedis Seid: That is fine. So long as it could be found during or before 1891 you should be fine.
[17:21] Vedis Seid: We simply do not allow 'futuristic' tech here. But Steampunk is fine

[17:22] Ziggy London: I have the 'gun licence' notecard, should I fill that out as the OOC application or does that stand simply for IC?
[17:23] Vedis Seid: The gun licence is IC, however before you do that, you will need to show the weapon to a Mod for approval.

[17:24] Vedis Seid: Another bit I want to draw your attention to is the Dark Mature Sim, bit.
[17:24] Vedis Seid: We do not allow RP limits here except as stipulated by Linden TOS.
[17:24] Vedis Seid: So that means, Rape MUST be agreed upon in IMs BEFORE it occurs.
[17:25] Vedis Seid: Permadeath (death you cannot return from) MUST be agreed upon in IMs.
[17:25] Vedis Seid: Everyone is 18 here. We do not allow ageplay.
[17:25] Vedis Seid: Everything else can and will happen, should you stick around long enough.

[17:28] Vedis Seid: Goddmodding is the action of forcing a conclusion in the role play.
[17:28] Rottengirl Elswit: yeah that's why i asked about doing things to the person while they are away. we're very very longtime rpers and are very familiar with things like that so i get ya.

[17:29] Vedis Seid: *smiles* I know, some of this is boring for long term RPers. But we go over it 'cause we want everyone to be on the same page, Some places play a bit differently than we do.

[17:30] Vedis Seid: Metagaming is also not allowed. The only OOC information we allow to be used here is the title on your meter. Which should be used for things people can see/smell/hear/feel about your character.

[17:31] Vedis Seid: If you are going to attack someone or pickpocket you MUST aheare to this rule: 2short posts or 1pararp post. Give the person time to respond (approx 5mins). You must be acknowledged by the person or people in the group before you proceed with the attack.

[17:32] Vedis Seid: Of course, this can be something as simple as saying I clenched my fist in anger.
[17:32] Vedis Seid: You respond to me after that, I can punch you in the face, and it's all legal.

[17:33] Vedis Seid: Now. We have a TON of rentals available here, but if you can't or don't want to rent you can squat.
[17:33] Rottengirl Elswit: if both parties agree, can combat/fighting take place without using the meter or dice to rely on? or do you have to use one or the other?

[17:34] Vedis Seid: You can, however, if there is something that effects the larger RP, it will need to be ST'd. expecially if you are going to affect the environment.

[17:37] Vedis Seid: Just keep to your limits and it's fine.
[17:37] Vedis Seid: e. Renters get a lockable door. This gives you more privacy, but ALL houses are considered IC, and can be affected and broken into with the witness of an ST.
[17:38] Saori Aeon: ..probably the only time you'd want someone to witness you break an entering..
[17:38] Vedis Seid: i.e. If you are on the floor, your IC. That includes your house and belongings as well.

[17:38] Vedis Seid: Here is a good guideline for when to call a Storyteller.
[17:38] Vedis Seid: a. Call for a Storyteller in the following cases:
i. Affect Health?
ii. Affect Strength?
iii. Affect Life?
iv. Affect Mental state?
v. Affects any visible object or build?
b. If you answer YES to any of the above, then call for a Storyteller in "Isle of Legacies OOC" IM group.

[17:40] Vedis Seid: Unless, as stated before, ya'll agree to not use one, but if there is a problem later on, you run the risk of having the RP voided, or having to do it over with an ST present.

[17:41] Vedis Seid: Yay, 'cause honestly, I love teaching the meter.
[17:42] Vedis Seid: Ok. We don't do meter bashing here. All fights on the IC floor are RPed out, turn based.
[17:42] Vedis Seid: Think of the meter as a tool to help keep it fair.
[17:42] Rottengirl Elswit: ok
[17:42] Vedis Seid: Let's go over the hud, everyone have their meter on?
[17:43] Vedis Seid: up at the top of the screen is your Hud. We shall start on the left and work our way right. Some of these are pretty common sense but if you have any questions, jump on in and ask.

[17:45] Ziggy London: Aye
[17:45] Vedis Seid: Health....obviously is the amount of...HEALTH you have. When this is gone you are defeated. However, because our fights are RPed, you might be defeated without it showing on your meter. For instance, if I rip out your neck, your out for the count weather it shows on the meter or not.
[17:46] Vedis Seid: Strength is how strong you are, this is important not only for fights, but for moving objects and doing physical tasks.
[17:46] Vedis Seid: Life is...life. once that's gone your dead. I've never met anyone who used up their life...not yet anyway.
[17:47] Vedis Seid: (again, you might die without the meter showing this...it's a guide, not the be all end all of your RP)

[17:48] Vedis Seid: Hunger is a fun one. it really doesn't affect your meter until 500%. So don't freak out if you get over 100, it happens.
[17:48] Rottengirl Elswit: ok
[17:48] Ziggy London: I went to 10% earlier and was worried
[17:48] Vedis Seid: There are several ways to affect hunger
[17:48] Vedis Seid: hunger can be fed with /9bitethem, /9gorge, paying for food or eating NPCs
[17:49] Vedis Seid: bitethem does do a small amount of damage to your target and gives you a small amount of healing.
[17:49] Vedis Seid: gorge takes from your power and makes food.
[17:49] Vedis Seid: Now. Melee.
[17:50] Vedis Seid: If everyone could click on their Hud, then click equip.
[17:50] Vedis Seid: This is your options for damage. It is not the weapons that do damage, no matter how they are scripted, it is the Hud.

[17:50] Vedis Seid: Pick the appropreate type of damage/speed for what you have.
[17:51] Vedis Seid: for instance, I have sharpened claws, so I chose Dual, 'cause I have two hands.
[17:51] Vedis Seid: on this screen you can equip your armor as well.
[17:52] Vedis Seid: or you could just click the 'armor' button on your hud.
[17:52] Vedis Seid: same thing
[17:52] Mr. Moriarty successfully armors themself.

[17:52] Mr. Moriarty successfully increases their melee damage.

[17:53] Vedis Seid: Shield and Anticurse are more protections, one against damage abilities and one against curses. You cannot equip this yourself until level 15.
[17:53] Vedis Seid: though others can cast the spells on you, for a price. *grins*
[17:54] Vedis Seid: If you watch your power, you will see it click over.
[17:54] Vedis Seid: You gain power by RPing using /2 and /2/me
[17:54] Vedis Seid: Higher level characters give you more power
[17:55] Vedis Seid: and the longer you RP with one person, the less power you gain from them over time.
[17:56] Vedis Seid: Doing things costs power. Be aware of how much power you need for each ability, and makes sure you have it, or it will fail AND take from your health

[17:57] Vedis Seid: Once a month the bank gives out a stipend.
[17:58] Vedis Seid: You can get a job, pickpocket, start a business or kill NPCs.
